Mary Miller’s Comments

“Debutante”: My mother wanted me to come out but I didn’t do it. My sister and I both like cereal and I am generally the one who caves.

“A Game of Pool”: I suck at pool and would take any pointers anyone would like to give me. When my husband and I first got married, and we were tired of going to chain restaurants for dinner, we’d go to this seedy strip club, which is by a nasty creek where the homeless people in town live. For action and to see how the other half lives or something.

“Dislocation” is about a friend who is always telling me I should write under a pseudonym. He moves around a lot and still thinks this will fix something.

I read “Boyfriend” and “Hunger” and wonder where they came from.
