Michael Cooper’s Comments

Out of these five pieces, I wrote “Pink Lady” first. The scope fit well in the container of 500 words, but the story raised questions concerning the relationships that had been fractured in that world. So I wrote the other four pieces in the order that they appear here. I sought to explore the consequences of this family’s estrangement from one another, and how emotional ties remain even through very long periods of disconnect.
