Half a Banana Tuna Later

Angela J. Perry

I should’ve known
You knew about “Super Pickle”
And you enjoyed juggling fruit
I should’ve left immediately
Headed straight for Tijuana
No lingering, no sandwich
But I got locked in your clutches
Trapped by your elementary decay
Mangled by your gut-busting antics
I became your mannequin
You were streaking and fire-eating
And I was left
Fermenting in your cavity
There without an antitoxin
You gobbled it up
Soiled my cerebellum splashboard
I should’ve known
It is best never to divide
The banana tuna sandwich
