David Rosenheim’s Comments

Sure, I write, as many do, to exfoliate my gut of the angst and nervousness of mortal living. But I also write for the sake of image and sound. As a reader and listener, I am moved by scenes, rhythms or melodies that are so specific, so personal, that they awaken me. I try to root my writing in specific scenes of my personal experience. Hopefully this specificity conjures something in you.

Most of my writing has been in song-form. Piles of songs for bands like Hugh, the Weather Band, and more recently Winchester Revival. Lately, the poems come first, only to be cannibalized for song fodder. But some of the poems stand on their own, as I hope these five do for you, sweet reader. Since I write them with rhythm, try to read them aloud. Hell, try to sing them and see what happens.
