brain chew brain
Justin Hyde

knock the bones together
like pieces of firewood
clean white
phosphorus pure

tail circle tail moon

you’ve lost your mind over a woman

rather—

she dropped you
like an old couch
behind goodwill
in the middle of the night.

hum

why not

horses are driven to madness
by flies

schopenhauer
and buddha
hell even johnny appleseed
and richard nixon
laugh at you
up on high

but you can’t hear them
down here
brain
chew brain

impulse of the stalker

tail circle tail moon

salt shaker bleed

this pathetic
heart.
